The Abbey Stained Glass Studios were founded in 1944 by the Ryan family and the Studios were then based in Abbey Street, Dublin, hence the name.
This third generation business, has gone from strength to strength over the generations. In our initial years our work was mainly in designing and fitting new stained glass windows but at present the greater portion of the work comes from the restoration of high quality stained glass windows.
We also carry out new design commissions and these are often by way of bequests for a new stained glass window to be fitted into an existing Church. The restoration and new work in the Studios keeps our stained glass Artists & Craftsmen busy all year round.
Our Studios have worked through the length and breath of Ireland and very often we get repeat orders. We recently worked in St. John’s Church, Waterford and we last worked there in 1953.
Whilst The Abbey Stained Glass Studios work mostly in Ireland we often design and manufacture new stained glass windows abroad. Some of our recent commissions were in Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A., Augustian Priory, Hammersmith, St. Ninian’s Church, Courock, Scotland, St. Teresa’s Church, Bellshill, Scotland. |
